Student Activities Resources

Welcome to the Student Activities Resource pages. If you are looking for new ideas, new sources of information or products, or want to find out about other youth organizations, think of this guide as your yellow pages.

Originally started as a feature in Leadership magazine, the Student Activities Resource pages has expanded so much that it is too much to be contained in the pages we can allot to it in the magazine. We have added categories and expanded others based on the recommendations of readers and we encourage readers to continue to alert us to useful resources. Putting these resources online makes them accessible year-round and enables us to update them easily. We can also include more information than will fit in one issue of the magazine.

NASSP is Breaking Ranks in the Middle:
Following on the heels of Breaking Ranks II: Strategies for Leading High School Reform, NASSP has recently released a middle level study that features nine strategies and thirty core recommendations that are founded in the philosophies of middle level education. Through financial support, NASSP is providing a free copy of Breaking Ranks in the Middle: Strategies for Leading Middle Level Reform to every middle school principal in the country.

Breaking Ranks in the Middle is also an important document for student councils. Like its high school counterpart, Breaking Ranks in the Middle addresses the importance of personalizing the school environment and creating opportunities for students to have a voice and become actively engaged in cocurricular activities. You can read more about Breaking Ranks in the Middle and how to order a copy for yourself on the NASSP website.
